Some Other Businesses
C & H Repair was started by Bill Cooper and David Hass. Wayne Mattocks is the current owner.
Carl Bremer built what was later known as the Golden Spur Motel, for an apartment building in the 1940s. Byron Moore later bought it, and then Lester Long, who modernized it and made it the Motel. It burned around the year 2000
J.H. Hall built a larger building just south of his lumberyard building (removed) and put in an appliance and hardware store. After his death it was opened several times as gift and curio shops and is now owned by the Mennonite Church who use it for their school.
Texas Grocery was originally a rural school building moved in and started by the Leist family as a grocery store. The R.L. Cozart family operated the store for many years, and added on to it twice. Pauline Palmer ran it for awhile. The Les Ellis bought it and operated if for several years. Later bought by the David Johnson family, who closed it in the late 1990s. It is now empty.
Cobbler Shop, Charles (Charlie) Brown
The metal building a block south of 54 Highway & 2nd St. was built by Dean Richards in the late 1970s. He called it the T & 0 Tinker Shop and stocked it with a variety of arts and craft items. He also held workshops for crafts and painting. He later added Storage Units, and expanded this twice before selling the business to the Greg Higgins family in 2002. The large Craft building is now empty.
Murphy Farms of Texhoma is the current owners of the hog feeding operations around Texhoma. This enterprise includes an office complex, feed mill, truck servicing building, and many hog feeding sites. The originators of this operation was a Spanish company called Vall.
