Prior to 1923 Texhoma's athletic teams were know as the "Texhomans".
Jim Rudd states, in the year 1923-1924, "I was the one who came up that name (Red Devils), logically I think, since we wore red and our teachers thought we rated the other part of the name. I still have a devil head insignia that two of us designed and had made to wear on the pocket of our letter sweaters".
